One workshop
Speaker: Andy Manel from Bold New Edge
Topic: AI Literacy
Artificial intelligence (AI) is slowly making its way into our everyday lives. From writing our mundane emails to predicting protein structures with great accuracy, AI can be a great tool when utilized correctly.
This workshop aims to demystify AI and spread awareness on its potential uses in the biotechnology sector.

Bold New Edge is a Montréal-based startup accelerating technology innovation with artificial intelligence through multiple educational initiatives.

Two Showcases
iGem Teams
iGEM is the world’s largest synthetic biology network and competition. Each year, more than 360 teams around the world work to create a project within synthetic biology and present it at the iGEM competition.
Startups
Startups will have the opportunity to set up a booth at the 90 minute showcase and pitch their company to other participants, which could be future partners, or investors. Startups will also be able to present their ideas in a private room with a group of VCs and angel investors.
Four panels
Entrepreneurship

Panelists: Josh Pottle from Molecular Forecaster
Innovation is at the forefront of our future and it is so unique because world-changing ideas can come from anyone. Panelists: Henrique de Carvalho from 9Bio, Benoit Larose from BIOQuebec
Interested in seeing how your work in biotechnology can impact the global economy?  What these upcoming technologies will do to job security? Political structures? Natural resources? This panel focused on bioeconomy will cover these questions, the infinite implications of biotechnology, and how they will change the world.

Bioethics

Panelists: Eric Meslin
Learn the opinions of top bioethicists and how they believe biotechnology needs to be handled to maintain society's philosophies and ethical principles. This panel will cover topics such as genetic manipulations and therapies, data security, preservation of the natural world, responsible research, and more!

Importance of Innovation

Panelists: Marina Kirkitadze from Sanofi, Michele D'Elia from Roche Canada
It seems that each year, there is a new gadget, a new vaccine, a new treatment method, or a new artificial intelligence. Attend this panel discussion to learn how innovation is still desperately needed today and how without it, we cannot move forwards as a society.
